Weekend Recap

What did you guys do this weekend? I had such a wonderful Midwest weekend. The weather is beginning to turn from Summer to Fall and everything smells so crisp. Notre Dame had their first home game of the season, and what a site that is. David and I were able to spend time with friends this weekend and enjoy a beautiful Sunday MBA picnic with everything from hayrides to a beanbag toss. The real highlight of the weekend was this little beauty pictured above. We picked this art piece up at a local antique shop and I can’t stop looking at it. David and I know nothing about art but we loved the piece and thought it would be a perfect start to our new apartment.

Happy Monday!

Living in 450 Sq Ft

We recently moved from our lovely 1800 sq ft townhouse to a 450 sq ft apartment. Size adjustment at its finest! My husband decided to go back to school for an MBA. We rented our townhouse sold as much furniture as we could and boxed up the rest. We brought only what our Subaru Tribeca could hold. Half of that went to things we had to bring such as, our baby and her very large car seat, her stroller, her pack’n’play, our clothes, and ourselves. From there it was a game of try to shove as much as we could into the car.

After three days of driving we arrived at our new home with no furniture, no beds, no curtains, no food, no towels, and a completely blank slate. I can happily say that after a month we finally feel like we have a home. It’s a work in progress of course, but things seem to being finding a home. I am now to a stage of trying to make things pretty and feel as much like “us” as we can do on a very small budget. Wish me luck!

Facing Dilemmas

A little heavy for a second post but, how do you go about-facing real dilemmas in your life? Do you draw from spiritual guidance and inspiration from a religion or belief that you have? Ask close loved ones for help? Do you exercise or loose yourself in other activities that will help you find answers? I am a very religious person and have tried drawing upon prayer and inspiration for guidance, but am finding that I’m not sure how to solve my problem so I avoid it. I put it at the back of the closet and it seems that every few months, sometimes weeks, the closest gets to full and everything falls out and my problem is staring me in the face once again!

How do you guys seek help to problems or situations in your own life?

How To Start

Do I know how to blog?
No
Do I know what to say?
No
Do I even know the direction of this blog?
No

So why write a blog?
So that I can channel my myriad of thoughts into one place.

After some reading I have found from many people that your first blog post will probably stink. Your mother might be your only visitor, but even the biggest bloggers published blog posts that were crap early on in their blogging careers. Not that I’m making a career but if they don’t know how to start, how should I? Starting anything is a learning experience so this, my first blog post as “j”, is just the beginning of something wonderful to look forward to each day as I try to be a fun mom and a supportive wife in a new town with new people!
